The board's FAQ names LPNs expressly: "The Mississippi Nursing Practice Law does not mandate CEUs as a prerequisite to renewing or maintaining a RN or LPN license." The law requires each nurse to maintain competency in his or her own field of practice. The one exception: an LPN who has been out of practice for more than five years must complete a minimum of twenty (20) contact hours of accepted continuing education earned in the two-year period immediately before the renewal, endorsement, or reinstatement application.
