Adding a Provider

What you'll accomplish

This guide walks you through adding a provider to your organization: manually, through the public lookup function, or by importing from CAQH.

Three ways to bring providers in

CredComply gives you three ways to add providers to your organization:

  • Manual entry: add a provider directly from the Providers page with just a first and last name.
  • Public lookup: run a credential check across state and federal registries (NPI, OIG, SAM, and participating state databases) and add the provider from verified results. This integration is free.
  • CAQH import: a paid integration that lets you add a provider by CAQH ID and enable ongoing records import. You'll find it under Integrations.

Before you begin

Before adding a provider, verify the spelling of their first and last name, and confirm that the National Provider Identifier (NPI) number you have matches the provider's official records exactly. Getting these details right up front maintains data integrity and prevents errors later in the process.

Add a provider with public lookup

Public lookup runs a complete credential check across public databases, so you can confirm a provider's identity and license standing as you add them.

  1. Select Public lookup in the left sidebar.
  2. Enter the provider's details: "First name", "Last name", and "NPI number", plus "City", "State", and "ZIP code" if you have them.
  3. Select "Run all searches" to check the registries and review the results.

Add a provider manually

When you already have the provider's details on hand, manual entry is the fastest path.

  1. Select Providers in the left sidebar.
  2. Select "Add provider".
  3. In the "Add a new provider to your organization" modal, enter the provider's "First name" and "Last name". "Email" is optional, but adding it now makes it easier to send record requests and reminders later.

Import from CAQH

If your organization uses the paid CAQH import integration, go to Integrations and add the provider by their CAQH ID. Beyond the initial import, the integration keeps bringing the provider's records in on an ongoing basis, so their profile stays current without manual uploads.
